Openreach Adds 551 UK Locations to FTTP Broadband Rollout
Updated: Jun 27, 2021
Openreach (BT) will today add 551 new UK cities and towns to the roll out plan for their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network. The latest batch of locations accounts for a total of 5 million extra premises, all of which will be upgraded as part of their £15bn project to cover 25 million premises by December 2026.
At present the operator’s full fibre deployment has already covered over 5 million UK homes and businesses (1.9 million were added during 2020/21), which is running at a build rate of c.43,000 premises per week. In addition, Openreach are seeing orders for this service – via various ISPs (e.g. BT, Sky Broadband, TalkTalk, Vodafone, Zen Internet etc.) – running at an average rate of c.17,000 per week.
Unfortunately none of the new area's to be covered include Ashton Hayes, Mouldsworth or Manley before 2026.
Below is the current build mapping for Openreach and our area.

As you can see there is a huge area in white of none planned build coverage including Kelsall (which was once being scoped by Virgin Media back in 2019), South to Little Budworth all the way north to Kingsley.
This clearly doesn't leave much hope to some who might be waiting on Openreach/BT to put something in place using their infrastructure.
On the plus side, this leaves a huge gap for Gigaloch to fill as time goes on, something I am sure they are aware of as I write this. Not before they have us connected of course!
If you wish to see the full list of area's in the running, you can find this here
If any of my readers are looking at this and do not wish to wait, please do contact me at info@f4amm.co.uk to register your interest in the Gigaloch build.
As always, I look forward to hearing from you.
